Welcome

Welcome friends and strangers! I'm Katie and while blogging, my desire to share my faith in the Lord to those in need of encouragement and motivation is not. My prayer is that I may be able to use my experiences along with "Special Souls" I speak about to encourage you in whatever you may be going through. This is a general blog about the Lord's plans for our lives, but it is very personal to me in that I will talk  about my battle with Crohn's disease and where illness fits into God's plan for our lives, as well as share the unfolding story that God has created for my husband and me. Please feel free to contact me about anything!

A little about myself:

I'm a spunky 24 year old who got married October 2010 to an amazing man of God, JB. We have known each other much of our lives and our romantic relationship started in 2007 while he was at the Virginia Military Institute. During that time I had many hospitalizations followed by three major surgeries due to my Crohn's and we had to learn how to trust in the Lord, despite such hardships and despite being separated by school. Now that JB is graduated and we are married, we are excited for what God has in store for us next! JB has just been accepted into the Fairfax County Police Academy and I am working as a nanny until I am ready to resume school to become a nurse.

Through all of the ups and downs, we have always known that the Lord has a purpose for all things and that there is something good that is supposed to come out of my illness: I can encourage you. It may not be illness for you, but we all have hardships and learning how to follow God during those times and see the purpose in His Ultimate Plan is what I hope you will learn. Blessings to you all!

A Verse on Pain and Suffering

Paul writes to us:
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort."
~ 2 Corinthians 1:3-7
